This section will run through the process of getting up and running in the club's forums hosted by Ford Forums.com.au. The brief introduction to Ford Forums will be added to over time and more tutorials on soem of the advanced features of the forums will be talked about.

If you have a question about using the forums you can contact the Webmaster and they can guide you through the process or answer any of your questions.

Introduction

Ford Forums is a website that allows registered users the ability to leave and respond to messages left on the website. Our club uses the forums as a way to communicate information out to members. There are also many other Ford enthusiasts on the site and it is a great resource if you are researching a particular product or having problems with your car. There is a section on the site for everything and everyone.

You do not need to be a member of Ford Forums to read the clubs forum though you will not be able to post and participate actively, so we recommend you register on the site and join in the fun.

How do I register?

To register and become a member for Ford Forums the only requirement is you will need an email address and registration is free.

  1. This link will take you to the registration process. Register here.
  2. Tick the box stating you will abide by the rules of the forum. You can read the legal stuff if you want but it is pretty standard stuff. Hit continue
  3. You will now be given a online form to register your unique username on the site, choose a password and provide them with an email address.
    • Choosing a username: Some people go for the strange names, others base there username on the car they drive. Get creative here, but choose something you will remember.
    • Choosing a password: Choose a password that is not obvisous to others and not too simple like "password". Passwords are case-senstive so if you type your password as "PASSword" then "password" will not work.
  4. Fill in the other required information and hit OK.
  5. You should now be ready to post.

How do I post a message?

Once you have successfully registered for the site you may want to reply to post. After you have read through the pages there is a text box at the bottom of the screen. You can leave a response to the message here.

To create your own thread look for the new thread button on the clubs index page.

Private Club Room!

You may have noticed the Private Club Room. This is for private club discussions for club members only. If you are a financial member of the club, send me a Private Message (PM) via this link. I will respond with the password to get into the Private Room.

What can I customise?

Ford Forums gives you access to the User CP (User Control Panel) here you can add custom text underneath your username, add a signature or even a custom avatar.

Signature - is your standard footer for each message you type. A popular choice is telling people the car you drive and listing your mods. Some people choose to promote the club that they are involved with. The code for a simple signature is below, to use this signature you enter into User CP and in the Settings menu on the left of screen choose Edit Signature. Then copy this text into the box provided and hit SAVE.

Avatar - is a picture associated to your username and is displayed undereath your username. You can upload a picture from your computer or if you know the address (URL) of an image located on the internet you can point the system to that.
