NEWSLETTER OF
THE FPV & XR OWNERS CLUB OF ACT |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| The Club has kicked off the year in fine style with some great events, good attendances at the events and also the monthly meetings at The Sports Club Kaleen, and the additional of a significant number of new members (introductions later). A big thanks to everyone for supporting the club so well thus far, lets continue the spirit for the remainder of the year. |

|
|
Jim McGeachin |
| Jim is not exactly a new member, but has been in the wilderness for a couple of years before he returned to his senses and purchased a FG GT. Jim is loving the new ride and being back involved in the club. |
| Craig Barnes |
| Another proud GT owner, Craig picked up his BF Boss 302 and shortly later joined the club. Craig has got right into the club spirit by being regularly seen at local events. |
| Max Bice |
| Max has been well known around the club for some time now, with his impressive BF F6 being the President's number 1 rival at numerous dyno days. What is the old saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. |
| Craig and Kim |
| Craig and Kim have really spoilt themselves by having both a BA GT and a BA XR6. Mad keen Ford people, they are going to fit in real well around the club. |

Dwayne Woodhouse's brand new XR5 Mondeo has been a welcome addition to the Woodhouse home and the club. The European styling really sets the Mondeo apart from the Falcons at the club.
Dwayne reports that the Mondeo has been a great buy, performing far above his expectations. Actually, to get a real indication of the performance of the Mondeo, we had to ask Jules. She is the one that understands that polishing is not a driving experience. |

| Planning for the 'Capital All Ford Day' on the 14th of March 2010 continues to progress. A number of sub-committees have been identified and are busily going about their tasks. Promotion of the 'Capital All Ford Day' will begin in earnest in the next couple of months so keep an eye out. |

ALPINE CRUISE |
 |
On the 14th February, 14 vehicles set off from Lanyon McDonalds to cruise the Alpine Highway via Cooma, Adaminaby, Tumut, Gundagai and back to Canberra. A 500km round trip. Lead by Glenn, everyone was able to stretch the legs of their vehicles on the open winding roads, before tackling the corners coming into Talbingo.
The sight seeing stop at the Snowy River Power Station was a welcome break for cars, drivers and some passengers. It was at the Power Station where some great photographs of members cars were taken. Continuing on to Tumut, the next stop was for a counter meal and a chat. From there it was a more subdued cruise back to Canberra and the end of the cruise. |
The Alpine Cruise was thoroughly enjoyed by all and will definitely by a regular event on the club's calendar. |

'LOVE THE BEAST' MOVIE |
The club members left the cars in the garage and ventured out for a movie and dinner evening. Meeting at DENDYS cinema, everyone was eager to view Eric Bana's new documentary, 'Love The Beast'. Noting that the documentary was about his XB Falcon Coupe, there was obviously a significant level of interest.
The movie was well received by club members and provided those partners of the members an insight into what drives us to fuss about our vehicles. That can only be a positive thing for us all.
To reflect on the movie and have a chat in general, Sammy's Kitchen was the next venue. A full banquet was enjoyed by all before departing for an early evening. |

SHANNONS WHEELS |
The yearly Shannons Wheels was once again held on the lawns of Old Parliament House. As expected, we were greeted with a beautiful clear day. Everyone gathered at the Scrivener Dam car park for the cruise to the event. Once at Old Parliament House, the vehicles were lined up, our clubs very impressive marques erected and the polishing rags came out for those last minute touch ups. As the last of us finalised our preparations, Dave and Pete put on breakfast.
Throughout the remainder of the day everyone took the opportunity to check out the hundreds of fine cars that were on display, and also to chat to a number of other Ford clubs that were present about our upcoming 'Capital All Ford Day'.
Come 2.00pm, it was time to start packing up and getting home to watch the mighty Fords dominate at the Clipsal 500. |

GOOD BEGINNINGS AUSTRALIA
|
|
In 2008 the FPV & XR Owners Club of ACT identified Good Beginnings as the club's charity of choice. Good Beginnings supports young families in the Canberra region by ensuring the children get the best possible start in life.
The FPV & XR Owners Club of ACT assists Good Beginnings in their efforts by providing financial support. Money is raised through-out the year at our numerous events. Last year the FPV & XR Owners Club of ACT donated $600 to Good Beginnings. We thanks the members and sponsors for enabling us to provide that supporting to Good Beginnings. |
